PVDC-Liner

Typ 1: Saran Liner

Suited for the short term wine storage available
in the sizes ø 28 mm and ø 30 mm
Advantage: low rate of diffusion

Unlike spirits, wines are constantly evolving – changing as they age: That’s why we laminate our sealing liners with a film of polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC). PVDC is a carbon-based material, that comprises a series of smaller units (monomers). The selection of monomers and the final molecular weight (or size) of the polymers determine the mechanical and physical properties for the resulting polymer. The essential properties include suitability for food contact applications and low oxygen permeability. This film is manufactured by DOW Chemical with its trademarked product Saranex®. Saranex liners are available for every size of our closures. However, the 30 x 60 mm LongCap also comes with a Saran-film-tin liner. The Saran-film-tin liner offers an even better fit to the glass finish and improves the oxygen barrier. Due to pricing, the Saranex liner will have a secure position on the market.
